A Full-Circle Story of Dedication and Growth
In 1994, Jon began working at Columbus Carpet as the “warehouse helper” for Mike Powell when he was just 14 years old. Over time, he started assisting installers, learning the trade firsthand. By age 18, Jon had become a lead installer at Columbus Carpet. In 2007, he launched his own business—HCL, Inc.—successfully serving Bartholomew County and surrounding areas. Throughout the years, Jon continued subcontracting for Columbus Carpet, maintaining a strong relationship with the team and building on his experience.
In 2018, Jon’s wife Sarah joined the business full-time, helping grow HCL, Inc. even further. Then in 2024, Jon and Sarah were approached about purchasing Columbus Carpet. After careful thought, they took a leap of faith and acquired the business—bringing Jon’s career full-circle. What began as a teenage job has come full circle into ownership. Jon and Sarah are proud to carry on the legacy of Columbus Carpet, with a commitment to hard work, integrity, and serving the Bartholomew County community. We value every client, old and new, and look forward to what’s ahead.
